Eco-Club, Vijay Rural Engineering College was established in 2014, Eco- club plays an important role in spreading environmental awareness among students and mobilizing their participation in environment related activities. A group of people who are interested in doing something for environment can achieve much more than an individual can do. All sorts of clubs can be formed, but an eco-club will enable us to do positive about the environment.

Eco-Club gives us important platform to create awareness about environment and sustainable development issues. Eco-Club promotes the participation of students in learning about and improving their environment. Eco-Club offers programs and activities to encourage others to reduce pollution, plant, trees and improve their imamate Environment.

Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, so as to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases. Eco-Club educates students about re-use of waste material and preparation of products out of waste.

STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE OF GREEN PEACE ECO-CLUB

Eco-Club is defined to mobilize students towards scientific enquiry into environmental problems. The purpose of this Eco-Club is to promote the participation of students and faculty members in learning about, and improving their environment.

The purpose of this procedure is to help students, parents and faculty/staff to understand and to adhere to the roles and responsibilities upon joining the Eco-Club.

Faculty members from Each Department have to constantly motivate the student members of the respective department and should actively participate in activities conducted by Eco-club.

Convener of Eco-club is supposed to release the correspondence related to the activities to be conducted for a particular academic year duly approved by the IQAC coordinator before end of previous academic year. At least 2 activities per semester or 5 activities for an academic year have to be compiled.

Chairman of Eco-club must release an office order in the month of May regarding the members of the committee for the next academic year.

Objectives

1. To Educate the Students about the Environment,
2. To spread awareness about environmental pollution and to reduce pollution in the College campus. M
3. To prepare Green Campus Policy.
4. To use different media such as posters, seminars, workshops, competitions, meetings etc. for spreading messages concerning environment and awareness
5. To prepare and organize students' participation for preservation and conservation of environment
6. To involve them in efforts to preserve Environment
7. To make Clean and Green Campus.
8. To conduct survey on transport utilization.

Composition

1. Principal act as a Chairman of the Green Peace Eco-Club Committee.
2. One senior faculty member to be appointed as a program Convener by the head of the Institution.
3. Faculty and student members from each department who show interest in environment related issues jointly by the head of the institution and the convener of Eco-Club.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. To enable the students to be sensitized towards environmental concern to tackle environmental problems.
2. To connect people by building and bonding relationship with the trees to enrich nature in a significant way.
3. To create a clean and green consciousness among students through various innovative methods.
4. Students groups are formed to identify the places for fixing the location.
5. Periodic visit to all the departments should be done to improve their hygienic conditions of living.
6. Eco-Club will empower students to participate and take up environmental activities and projects.
7. Also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat.
